JOB TITLE: Records Specialist 1, 2, or 3 CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Police SUPERVISOR: Management Analyst
Salary Ranges
Salary ranges are: Records Specialist 1 - $25.05 to $40.79/hr Records Specialist 2 - $26.30 to $42.83/hr. Records Specialist 3 - $27.61 to $44.97/hr.
Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Management Analyst, performs a variety of administrative and operational support duties for the Police Department. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
One year administrative or secretarial experience.
Must possess or have ability to obtain within forty-five days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Notary Public Certificate.
Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation and fingerprint background check.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Records Specialist 2
Two additional years of experience in records management.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Records Specialist 3
Two additional years of experience in records management.
Preferred Qualifications
Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications for Records Specialist 2
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science, Business Administration, Computer Science or another related field.
Experience working for municipal government in records and information management and information governance.
Experience with the New Mexico IPRA, Public Records Act, FOIA and other records or information management regulatory requirements mandated by law.
Paralegal or other legal certification.
Project management experience.
Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications for Records Specialist 3
Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science, Business Administration, Computer Science or another related field.
ARMA Information Governance Certification.
ARMA Essentials of Records & Information Management Certificate (RIM).
Paralegal or other legal certification.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
ARMA Professional Leadership certification.
