Position Overview UHP is seeking a motivated, mission-driven Assistant Performance Coach to support the delivery of high-quality strength and conditioning education within our Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) program.

This role sits at the intersection of coaching, education, and mentorship. Assistant Performance Coaches work directly with students, most of whom are veterans transitioning into new careers, helping them build confidence, competence, and discipline through structured physical training and immersive learning environments.

This is not simply a “run-the-workout” role. It is a foundational coaching position designed for individuals who want to grow as coaches, educators, and leaders, within a high‑expectation, values‑driven organization.

About UHP UHP is a veteran‑focused education and leadership development organization located on an 800‑acre campus in Northwest Arkansas. We deliver immersive, 19‑day certification programs across fitness, health, nutrition, and leadership, helping service members and veterans discover purpose and build meaningful careers after service.

Key Responsibilities 1. Physical Training & Coaching Support

Assist in leading group training sessions with clarity, structure, and professionalism

Demonstrate movements and coaching cues accurately and confidently

Support students across all fitness levels with care and adaptability

Maintain a safe, organized, and motivating training environment

Build rapport and trust with students through presence and consistency

Assistant Performance Coaches are expected to contribute to smooth session flow and help create an environment where students feel challenged, supported, and capable.

2. Classroom & Instructional Support

Support classroom modules and practical teaching sessions

Prepare thoroughly for assigned content and learning objectives

Reinforce key concepts during instruction and practical application

Model attentiveness, professionalism, and engagement

Assistant Performance Coaches are expected to know the material, support instruction effectively, and grow into expanded teaching responsibilities over time.

3. Student & GA Coach Mentorship

Support Graduate Assistant (GA) coaches through modeling and informal mentorship

Serve as a steady, professional presence for students

Reinforce UHP standards related to discipline, communication, and conduct

This role carries leadership responsibility and contributes directly to daily culture and student experience.

4. Preparation, Professionalism & Reliability

Arrive early and fully prepared for all sessions, modules, and meetings

Review curriculum and session plans ahead of time

Maintain organization, readiness, and attention to detail

Communicate proactively and clearly with performance staff and leadership

Reliability and preparation are non‑negotiable expectations.

5. Growth, Learning & Contribution

Actively pursue professional development in coaching and instruction

Demonstrate curiosity, humility, and openness to feedback

Contribute ideas that improve sessions, systems, and student experience

Take ownership of personal growth and performance

Qualifications & Experience Required

Background in strength & conditioning, fitness coaching, or a related field

Comfort coaching groups and demonstrating physical movements

Strong communication skills and professional demeanor

Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and grow within a structured system

Certification in personal training, strength and conditioning, or a related field

Preferred

Experience working with military, veteran, or high‑discipline populations

Prior coaching, teaching, or mentorship experience

Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or related field

Familiarity with integrative health coaching

Salary range:

$40,000–$50,000 , based on experience
