Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.
Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. Inspectors work at a county level, completing all inspections in their county.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 5‑6 minutes per property.
Finish the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Drive extended periods, making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies based on county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of
$30‑40 per hour .
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates, while higher‑volume counties have lower rates. No set number of inspections per month, but work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
