Family Engagement Specialist

Your Role As the
Family Engagement Specialist
(FES) you will be responsible for adapting and delivering Shine’s family engagement training and resources tailored to the needs of Family Child Care Home (FCCH) educators and providers in North Carolina. The FES equips providers with strategies to engage families, organizes face-to-face parent meetings, and facilitates advocacy education sessions in alignment with DCDEE’s requirements.
What You’ll Do
Support the promotion of family environments that enhance children’s development
Disseminate Shine and partner family engagement toolkits, trainings, and resources
Support the engagement of families in the Family Engagement Contract process in order to build relationships and shared accountability for promoting children’s development
Promote an individualized family engagement and relationship-building approach to families’ cultural context, as well as respectful of family circumstances
Support FCCH providers and educators in using family feedback tools, goal-setting strategies, and Shine On Families curricula
Collaborate with coaches to integrate family engagement into CoPs and individualized one-on-one sessions
Document training and family engagement activities and report on outcomes
Build partnerships with local CCR&Rs, National Association for Family Child Care, National Parent Leadership Institute, and community partners to strengthen family advocacy
Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required
What You Bring
Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, Human Services, or related field required
At least 5 years of experience in early learning settings, preferably FCCH
At least 3 years of experience developing or delivering family engagement programs
Physical exam and background checks are required for this position
Ability to travel across North Carolina
Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions
Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
When/Where/How Much
When: Fall 2025
Where: Remote - North Carolina with 10% travel
How Much: This position pays up to $60,000 annually
