Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking a Peer Support Specialist for the Intensive Community Outreach and Recovery Team (I‑CORT) to provide services to adults with a severe and persistent mental illness. The position is located in Pike County, MS. Some on‑call duties are required.
About the I‑CORT Program The I‑CORT is a recovery‑and‑resiliency oriented, intensive, community‑based rehabilitation and outreach service for adults with a severe and persistent mental illness. Services are provided primarily in natural settings and are delivered face‑to‑face, by phone or video conference with the individual and, when appropriate, their family or significant other. The goal is to assist individuals in achieving and maintaining their recovery and resiliency goals while keeping them in the community and avoiding placement in state‑operated behavioral health programs.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be able to obtain Peer Support Certification from the Department of Mental Health (DMH)
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
Reliable transportation to provide services in the community
Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
Assist individuals with severe and persistent mental illness to make improvements in functioning, manage symptoms, and achieve individual goals, maintaining optimism.
Deliver services in community locations to enable individuals to find and live in their own residence and secure and maintain community jobs.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the consumer served.
Participate in team staffing and function as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Position is mobile and will require use of personal vehicle.
Provide clinical therapy services and emergency services to individuals and their families.
Provide community education services as needed.
