We are looking for an Overhead Power Distribution Specialist. This role is remote and can be located anywhere within the United States.

Responsibilities

Capture and analyze complex customer requirements (e.g., advanced ground fault protection) and translate them into detailed technical specifications for R&D development.

Act as the technical liaison to strategically align the future development, features, and functional standardization between the Overhead Distribution and SIPROTEC platforms.

Design and validate integrated technical solutions (protection, control, and communication) for customer applications, acting as the primary technical consultant and advocate for necessary product improvements.

Deliver expert technical guidance and resolution to complex customer inquiries regarding protection settings, relay configuration, and system communication issues.

Support sales and business development by assisting customers and EPCs in correctly specifying Siemens’ solutions and clearly articulating the competitive technical advantages.

Develop and lead specialized technical training for internal teams, external customers, and partners to ensure a high standard of application expertise.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. Other technical backgrounds may be considered with relevant experience.

3+ years of experience in power system protection, relay settings, distribution automation, or utility environments (e.g., switchgear, reclosers).

Strong knowledge of protection relay communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850).

30% expected travel.

Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven ability to translate high-level customer needs into detailed technical requirements for R&D/software teams.

Excellent communication and training skills; ability to operate effectively between customer experts and internal R&D teams.

Direct experience representing a utility or EPC at industry standards committees (e.g., IEEE PES, NERC).

Prior experience in product development, technical sales support, or consulting within the utility vendor space.

Advanced knowledge of utility communication protocols and cybersecurity standards (e.g., NERC CIP).

Demonstrated expertise in Ground Fault Protection schemes and application methodologies.

Prior work with Siemens products or similar technologies.

Preferred education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Preferred certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent industry certifications.
