Oversees facility operations and maintains ground and building systems. Recommends capital improvements and develops budget for those improvements. When applicable, manages one to six (1-6) temporary or work release people.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on building components including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems; or works with contractors and vendors to complete repairs while staying within the operational budget.

Oversees inventory including small equipment inventory, safety equipment, materials, and stockpile management. Distributes, maintains, and stocks supplies.

Performs remodeling tasks for County buildings which may include painting, carpentry, or other structural repairs, as needed.

Assists and supervises the work of contractors or work release individuals.

Performs grounds keeping, security, and light cleaning of the building interior and exterior including gym, if applicable. Takes preventative action to control animals, pests, and West Nile mosquitos.

Monitors the building operating budget and expenses with supervision.

Provides information regarding recycling programs.

Assists with moving furniture and office equipment; and sets up specific configurations for special events.

Picks up and delivers equipment parts, mail, and other items as needed.

Conducts and coordinates fuel system inspections and monitoring, performs minor dispenser repairs, and fuel delivery receipt, if applicable.

Makes recommendations and monitors Capital budget projects and provides cost estimates.

Prioritizes work to ensure building occupants’ needs are met.

Responsible for annual building, equipment, security, City, and Fire inspections and certifications as needed.

Acts as the point of contact for all after hour facility emergency calls.

Monitors large Capital facility projects with contractors and architects

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Four (4) Full-Time years of building operations experience.

Must have knowledge of basic building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, fabrication and welding, and spreadsheet and word processing programs.

Must have the ability to work well with elected officials and department heads.

Must be self-motivated, organized, and able to work without direct supervision.

Forklift certification required within 6 months of hire.

Class C driver license required; ability to obtain Class A within eight (8) months of hire, if applicable.

Must have in depth knowledge of all aspects regarding building operations.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include financial reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, climb, stoop, lift, push and pull.
