613 Clubhouse III 2123-613 Recreation Services Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct or general supervision of the clubhouse coordinator and/or supervisor, assists in administering activities in connection with recreational services of a recreation facility and/or events; performs related work as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Administers and coordinates activities for the facility he/she is assigned to; providing leadership and direction to subordinate staff; follows and enforces all applicable GRF Rules and Regulations; creates, promotes and manages clubhouse events and programs; and provides input in staff and department development programs.

Provides excellent customer service and builds meaningful relationships with residents, club presidents, board members and co-workers.

Attends the reception desk as needed, receives incoming telephone calls and answers a variety of questions relating to services and programs.

Provides essential office duties including research, data entry preparing rough draft report narratives and tabulations, filing, report generating, event scheduling, managing and taking reservations, selling and promoting events; composes and types letters and other routine correspondence.

Assists with event setup, break down and clean up; lifting up to 50lbs.

Monitors safety and cleanliness of facility, programs, event, and activities. Provide basic custodial services as needed.

Opens and closes facilities as scheduled.

Works and assists the security and compliance departments as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by coordinator and supervisor.

Regular attendance is required. All duties performed on-site for the Community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most often work is done inside, in a climate controlled environment. Occasionally work is done outside.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school and some work experience preferably involving regular public contact or equivalent combination of education and experience which produces the following:

Knowledge of managing a recreational facility, including event and program registration.

Knowledge of planning and coordinating special events.

Knowledge of California Parks and Recreation Society.

Knowledge of customer service practices and development.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.

Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices and procedures.

Ability to manage special events.

Ability to work hours determined by shift assignment.

Ability to regularly exert physical effort.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25lbs, and occasionally up to 50lbs.

Reaching is required along with crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing and stooping. Climbing is required occasionally.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Reading , read diagrams, verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of basic business practices, customer contact and constant interruptions.
