Overview As an HVAC Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the comfort and safety of our facilities. You'll perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a wide range of HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, heat pumps, and more.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on various HVAC systems

Identify and resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime

Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals

Maintain accurate records and reports of maintenance activities

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations

Requirements

Strong background in HVAC repairs and maintenance

Military Maintenance Specialist IV – Limited Service (Job Requisition #53455) , is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non‑tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors Work is performed at State of Vermont and Federal National Guard facilities statewide. The incumbent often works near or with hazardous materials, including ammunition and high voltage. Work requires entering confined spaces, removing snow on runways and exposure to loud noises. An incumbent operates heavy equipment and possession of a Commercial Driver’s License is required. An incumbent must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment and materials weighing as much as fifty pounds. Work is performed in all kinds of weather. Some work outside of normal duty hours will be required. Travel and overnight stays may be included.

Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more in Construction or Facilities Maintenance.

OR

At least one (1) or more years of Military Maintenance Specialist III

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Must possess CDL license OR complete State approved HVAC course.

Must get Vermont recognized License/Certificate in EPA and LP/ Natural Gas.

Must have ES or PS license and VT LP Gas/NG license.

Preferred Qualifications

Building Trades/Vocational Education

Military experience

Previous experience working on a military installation

Vermont License or Certificate in EPA and LP/Natural Gas

Special Requirements Incumbents of this job may be required to have a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) issued, which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint‑supported criminal record check. Possession of CAC may be a condition of continued employment according to assigned duties and or location.

Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required for assigned duties.
