This role also provides technical guidance for select capture efforts and program execution activities. Key responsibilities will include:**Enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) Leadership & Architecture*** Define reference architectures for applied AI (vision, NLP, multi modal, decision support, edge inference) across MTS programs; review designs for performance, robustness, security, and cost.* Establish and continuously improve AI engineering practices (data pipelines, feature stores, MLOps/CI CD, observability, model lifecycle, drift management).**Governance, Assurance & Compliance*** Lead Responsible AI, model risk management, and governance processes; ensure compliance with customer requirements and enterprise policies (e.g., RMF/NIST controls, CMMC alignment, data rights/export controls, privacy).**Program Delivery & IR&D*** Review IR&D proposals for feasibility, viability, and desirability; advise on performance metrics, test/validation plans, VV&A, and mission suitability; steer IR&D to mission-focused, reusable capabilities aligned with the CTO's tech strategy.**Cross Portfolio Technical Mentorship*** Mentor engineers and data scientists in advanced methods (e.g., robust ML, XAI, optimization, signal processing with ML); facilitate technical communities of practice and knowledge reuse.**Work Environment:*** **Location:** Remote/Hybrid (access to a KBR office and secure access area; preferably near Beavercreek, OH* **Travel Requirements:** Moderate 10-25%* **Working Hours:** Standard**Qualifications:*** Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Science, Engineering, or related field; 12+ years in AI/ML development for government or defense programs.* Hands-on expertise with Python ecosystems (PyTorch/TensorFlow/scikit learn), data engineering (Spark/SQL), vector/RAG pipelines, and AI at the edge.* Proven design of secure, scalable AI solutions in AWS GovCloud or Azure Government, including container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), IaC, and DevSecOps toolchains.* GovCon Proficiency* Leadership & Communication: Track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and authoring high quality technical documents.**Clearance:*** Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required**Desired:*** Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in AI/ML or related discipline.* Depth in one or more mission domains: ISR, EW, Autonomy, C2, Cyber, Space, or Logistics analytics.* Experience with foundation models, multi modal learning, RL, generative and agentic AI.* Certifications: AWS/Azure AI/ML, Security+, CISSP, SAFe (or equivalent).If you’re excited about making a significant impact in the field of space defense and working on projects that matter, we encourage you to apply and join our team at KBR.
