External Relations and Mobilization Officer LM International - USA

Join LM International as an External relations and mobilization officer (Trainee position), where you will leverage a 6-month traineeship to build external relations and mobilize resources ensuring that our US strategy is deeply integrated with our Global Strategy "Roadmap 2030".

Main Responsibilities US Market Diagnosis & Marketing Strategy

Support LM US Team in building external relations at the LM New York office

Strategically communicate LMs Global Health and WASH portfolios, on the US market, with the target of attending 20 thematic events in New York.

Support strategic development of US focused product marketing strategy, translating complex Health and WASH programs into clear and compelling platforms and impact story telling.

Partnership & Public Affairs Development

Act as LM International’s junior liaison officer on behalf of LM senior leadership in the New York ecosystem.

Attend at least 20 targeted events with a specific focus on UN agencies, private foundation for Global Health and WASH and faith-based stakeholders’ forums.

Plan LMs strategic presence at UNGA & Accord Network

Support US Representative as a strategic bridge between the US market and Global Programmes unit, actively identifying partnership opportunities that can provide funding, technical expertise, or new technology for our field operations

Strategic & Internal Communications

Establish regular check-ins with US representatives in DC and US Finance Manager.

Participate in Global Program Team meetings.

Produce (bi)weekly intelligence briefing

Participate online in monthly coordination meetings

Participate online in monthly All staff meeting

Participate bi-weekly in Step4Life sessions led by Global HR.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Marketing/ International Relations / International Business/ Economics/ Communications / Project Management or related Social Sciences.

Strong analytical and research skills

Understanding of marketing principles

Relationship-building and networking skills

Grounding with our Christian faith values

Excellent writing and presentation skills (for strategic and internal communications)

Familiarity with CRM, marketing tools, or data visualization tools (advantageous)

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, global environment with a customer‑centric mindset.

Continuous learning mindset

Fluent in spoken and written English (as it is the corporate language).

Key Professional Development Objectives

Financial Acumen & "Trade and Aid" Expertise with a goal to develop a deep understanding of the organization’s financial model and the principles of innovative development finance

U.S. Banking Operations & Financial Controls with a goal to establish and maintain compliant banking procedures for the New York office, including check handling, deposit processing, wire transfer protocols, and adherence to U.S. banking regulations and internal financial controls.

Thought Leadership & External Representation with a goal to build the skills required to represent LM International as a thought leader on the global stage

Strategic Leadership & Mentorship with goal to gain direct insight into senior level decision making and organizational strategy

About the Position

Employment Type: Full‑time, 40 hours per week with flexible working hours.

Location: LM New York, The Swedish American Chamber of Commerce in New York (SACCNY), 250 west 55th st, 17th Floor, 10019 New York, NY.

Travel: May be required as needed.

Contract Type: A six‑month Traineeship contract with possible renewal

Start Date: As soon as possible.

Grade: Trainee level
