Survey Party Chief I

Duties, Responsibilities & Other Our Survey Practice in Georgia is looking to bring on a Party Chief to support our local projects. This person ideally will have previous land survey party chief experience with the ability to manage field crews and complete typical land surveying projects.
Reporting to our Land Survey Manager, this person will be responsible for:
Supervision of the 2–3 person field survey crew on job sites.
Maintaining and keeping field notes, and verifying that field notes and sketches are downloaded into computers each night.
Communicating with office staff, training subordinates, and operating robotic instrument, total station, data collector, GPS (fast static, RTK and VRS), and autolevel.
Participating in monthly safety meetings, helping identify potential safety hazards and creating a corrective action plan when hazards are recognized.
Willing to work evenings/weekends when required and to travel for overnight and extended stay projects as required.
Selecting and implementing proper maintenance of traffic signage and following safety precautions.
Operating and maintaining a survey truck and related equipment safely and efficiently where required.
Performing other duties as assigned by the survey manager.
The ideal candidate will possess:
4+ years of survey field experience using numerous types of survey instruments (GPS, Robotic total stations, data collectors, digital levels, etc.).
Prior experience working with Trimble data collection software (a plus).
Prior experience working on DOT survey and SUE projects (a plus).
A valid current driver’s license.
The ability to follow instructions, and to train and mentor crews with a positive can‑do attitude.
Leadership and mentoring skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.
Qualifications Education and/or Skills Required:
Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
High school Diploma or GED.
Certificates, licenses, and/or registrations required:
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to maintain required certifications.
Pre‑employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
Performance Expectations
Participate in cross‑training as requested to build a stronger team.
Communicate workflow needs to your team and supervisor.
Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
Accurately record and report daily forms per project requirements.
Communicate effectively with client, contractor, staff, and supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Proactively resolve problems at the lowest level.
Adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget.
Review all work for completeness and accuracy before submitting.
Submit accurate time sheets, mileage and expense reports on time each week.
Review jobsite safety daily and take immediate action to document and resolve issues.
Understand OSHA safety standards and KCI corporate policies and follow them at all times.
Accurately record and report your work each day on the forms provided.
Inspect and correct your own work before turning it in.
Perform all tasks using required industry standards.
Review all work assigned to you before beginning your work.
Understand all applicable industry standards for your assigned tasks.
Work with your team to maximize production and accuracy to help us achieve our goal.
Have the specific knowledge to perform all duties.
Maintain all required certifications and participate in training courses as required.
Understand all applicable industry standards for the project and perform all tasks per standards and client requirements.
