Job Description The Planner/Buyer role is responsible for ensuring manufacturing production schedules are established and that the materials required for production are available. The position works with production operators, production management, Planner/Buyers, and logistics management across BD. It balances raw materials and supplies to minimize on‑hand inventory, ensures scheduling does not result in material outages or production stoppages that could negatively impact other plants/customers, and maintains open orders in the system while coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing floor personnel. The role supports new and experimental product runs, provides compliance reporting, and collaborates with other Planner/Buyers on component demands and finished‑goods shipments, all while supporting the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
Ensure manufacturing production schedules are established and materials required for production are available.
Work with production operators, production management, Planner/Buyers and Logistics management across BD.
Balance raw materials and supplies to minimize on‑hand inventory.
Ensure scheduling does not result in outages of material and production stoppages that could negatively impact other plants/customers, causing backorders and/or revenue loss.
Maintain open orders in the system and bring them forward in the production plan.
Maintain ongoing communications with manufacturing regarding schedules, materials, etc.
Process and distribute Experimental Orders.
Review system‑planned component purchases and convert them into vendor purchase orders.
Interact with supplier representatives on open order and change order deliveries.
Interact with manufacturing floor personnel and establish an internal network for feedback on low component inventory levels.
Co‑coordinate with other Planner/Buyers on component demands and on finished goods shipments.
Coordinate inventory integrity with manufacturing to maintain system reliability.
Assist with compliance measurement reporting systems.
Support new and experimental product runs to include replacement or new components.
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Production system reliability and inventory integrity.
Master scheduling satisfies customer expectations and on‑time delivery.
Education
BA/BS – Supply Chain Management or Business
Experience
5 years in a Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management environment.
APICs Certification preferred.
