Job Description The Consumer Loan Originator is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing loan applications for a range of consumer loan products including auto loans, personal loans, credit cards, and other unsecured loans. This role ensures members are served professionally and promptly, providing tailored lending solutions and financial guidance. The position requires sound judgment to resolve complex or exceptional situations, occasionally engaging with internal stakeholders for support and resolution.

Essential Functions

Originate and process consumer loans while meeting or exceeding individual and departmental production goals.

Conduct inbound and outbound phone outreach to both prospective and existing members to promote loan products and generate new business.

Accurately review loan applications, gather and verify supporting documentation, and ensure timely and accurate loan processing.

Present and effectively offer protection products such as GAP, Extended Warranty, and Debt Protection to ensure full loan coverage.

Demonstrate the ability to structure high performing loans that benefit the member and the credit union.

Use strong interpersonal skills and influence to consistently achieve and exceed sales goals. Maintain strict member and Credit Union confidentiality in accordance with policy and regulation.

Analyze credit reports to make informed recommendations and provide financial guidance to members.

Collaborate with internal departments and business partners to ensure prompt and accurate resolution of member service needs, maintaining a member‑centric service culture.

Ensure all lending activity is compliant with federal and state laws, internal policies, and third‑party vendor regulations.

Accurately complete related administrative tasks and documentation in a timely manner.

Foster long‑term member relationships through daily interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.

Adhere to organizational attendance and punctuality standards.

Support team development and success through mentoring, coaching, training, and by modeling professionalism and teamwork.

Maintain professional, clear, and member‑focused communication across all interactions.

Process and comply with new account application procedures when necessary.
