As an Art Specialist at Pathfinder, you’ll use creativity, compassion, and relationship-building to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they discover their strengths and express themselves through art. This role combines hands‑on teaching, meaningful one‑on‑one support, and opportunities to empower individuals to live more self‑directed, connected lives.

Responsibilities Creative Support & Instruction

Teach art skills using person‑centered methods tailored to each individual’s strengths and interests.

Plan, coordinate, and lead art experiences in both onsite and community settings.

Assist with tagging, framing, displaying, and rotating artwork for shows, exhibits, and agency events.

Individualized Support & Daily Living Assistance

Support individuals in building daily living, communication, and social skills.

Provide transportation as needed to help individuals access activities and resources.

Teach skills that promote independence, choice, and meaningful participation in activities.

Planning, Documentation & Advocacy

Implement individualized support plans, goals, and activities as written.

Maintain accurate documentation of progress, activities, and supports.

Advocate for the rights, dignity, and preferences of each person supported.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Administer medications and first aid following agency guidelines.

Monitor health needs, report concerns promptly, and ensure safe environments at all times.

Follow emergency procedures and provide safe transportation.

Maintain fiscal accountability when handling program or participant funds.

Collaboration & Team Support

Build strong partnerships with individuals, families, co‑workers, and community members.

Participate in staff meetings, committees, and in‑service trainings.

Model teamwork, positive communication, and sound judgment.

Support people in gaining greater independence, self‑advocacy, and personal growth.

Requirements Preferred Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

At least 18 years of age.

Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving record.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and meet physical requirements of the role.

Experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.

Ability to teach and support meaningful art experiences.

Crisis prevention/intervention skills or willingness to obtain training.
