Cost Estimator
on a
Direct Hire
basis. This role is based out of Cresco, IA.
Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Estimator to develop accurate cost projections for manufacturing projects by analyzing designs, materials, labor, and production processes. This role supports both ongoing manufacturing operations and new product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in cost analysis and industrial engineering, along with deep familiarity with manufacturing workflows and cost modeling.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates by reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and routing information.
Evaluate labor, materials, equipment usage, and overhead to determine total manufacturing costs.
Collaborate with engineering, production, purchasing, and finance teams to collect and verify cost data.
Estimate costs during early‑stage design and prototyping for new product initiatives.
Maintain and update cost databases, estimation tools, and historical cost records.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process efficiency improvements.
Support make‑or‑buy decisions through cost comparisons and vendor analysis.
Ensure compliance with internal cost standards and relevant customer and industry requirements.
Required Skills
2+ years of experience in cost estimation.
Solid experience within the manufacturing industry, including understanding of metal fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly.
ERP system knowledge is essential, along with solid Word and Excel skills.
Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
Experience with continuous improvement or cost reduction initiatives is a plus.
