Under direct supervision, support the mission of the Training Section in raising the professional capabilities of Division personnel, in addition to fulfilling law enforcement responsibilities and other assigned duties.
Specific Duties
Assist with mandatory yearly in-service training for all sworn employees, instruction, and monitoring of in-service.
Assist with implementation, planning, lesson plans, and necessary function related to advanced Division training hosted externally and "in house."
Assist with all phases of weapons training (Spring, Fall Glock, and in service handguns, and rifles).
Plan and implement training courses, lesson plans, scheduling, and instruction conducted by the Division for sworn and non-sworn personnel.
Obtain and maintain pertinent Instructor Certifications required to train Division personnel for in service, SWAT, and other training courses provided to Division personnel (e.g. firearms, DT, driving, OC, etc.).
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
Must have served at least eight (8) years as a certified law enforcement officer.
Must currently be a Class I Law Enforcement Officer through the SC Criminal Justice Academy.
Must possess thorough knowledge of law enforcement operations, procedures, and techniques.
Must have extensive knowledge of the mission, policies, and procedures of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Must live within a 60-mile radius of SLED Headquarters located in Columbia, South Carolina.
Position requires overnight travel and irregular work hours.
Experience as an instructor is preferred.
Certifications in various disciplines as an instructor is preferred.
