Respiratory Therapist II Gloucester, Virginia

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning, executing and evaluating the total respiratory care of assigned patients. The practitioner utilizes evidence‑based respiratory care practice to care for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. Works under the direction of the leadership team to provide respiratory services in accordance with the standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and supports best practices recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care.

What You Will Do

Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate treatments and procedures for the respiratory care plan.

Complete all documentation and assure orders are current, completed, or discontinued.

Participate in meetings, projects, and in‑services to improve RHS respiratory care services.

Utilize proper infection control techniques during duties and in accordance with departmental procedures.

Work with physicians and nurses to create and evaluate treatment plans.

Qualifications Education

Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (required).

Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (preferred).

Experience

One year of respiratory therapist experience (preferred).

Licenses and Certifications

Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) – NBRC RCP License with Virginia Department of Health Professions upon hire (required).

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – NBRC upon hire (required).

CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross (required).

ACLS Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross, within 1 year (required).
