In this role you will support the Financial Services & Capital Markets (FSCM) Strategic Business Unit, working closely with the SBU’s leadership and the Business Development, Marketing, and Communications (BDMC) department.
Responsibilities
Develop deep understanding of the group’s attorneys, client base, experience, and market capabilities.
Communicate the firm’s and the group’s value proposition through clear, persuasive writing.
Collaborate on multi‑team business development and marketing projects, including deliverables and ROI analysis.
Produce reports and actionable insights for attorneys.
Take ownership of an industry vertical, driving related initiatives and reporting progress.
Identify cross‑sell opportunities and lead campaigns to grow client relationships.
Draft, revise, and produce high‑quality marketing and client‑facing materials such as pitches, RFPs, presentations, and informational sheets.
Maintain and update business development databases.
Research profile‑raising opportunities for partners and key practices, coordinating sponsorships and speaking engagements.
Enhance SBU visibility through speaking engagements, sponsorships, advertising, public relations, social media, and other activities.
Assist with strategic planning and execution of SBU events and webinars.
Support and advance cross‑functional initiatives and projects.
Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency of business development activities.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the SBU and firm‑wide business development efforts.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; focus in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to draft compelling proposals, collateral, reports, and client‑facing materials.
High level of maturity and confidence to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients.
Ability to initiate, create, and lead short‑ and mid‑term projects, reprioritize workflow, and manage day‑to‑day deliverables.
Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and problem‑solving skills.
Proactive communication of challenges or delays.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and internet research tools; knowledge of InterAction and Foundation a plus.
Ability to craft concise, executive‑level messaging.
Professional and courteous demeanor; professional appearance required.
Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Adaptability to changing business needs.
High attention to detail, producing accurate, high‑quality work efficiently.
Professional integrity, maintaining confidentiality and building trust.
Compensation and Benefits Employees receive compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. Salary ranges by jurisdiction:
California: $70,000 - $142,000
Colorado: $64,000 - $122,000
Illinois: $63,000 - $110,000
Maryland: $68,000 - $102,000
Massachusetts: $70,000 - $133,000
Minnesota: $70,000 - $115,000
Jersey City, NJ: $76,000 - $137,000
New York: $65,000 - $140,000
Vermont: $69,000 - $132,000
Washington: $68,000 - $128,000
Washington, D.C.: $81,000 - $119,000
