Position Summary As a Material Specialist, you will be vital to the success, and support of the operations, through professionally and efficiently working with the production leads and supervisors to support production. You will be the critical liaison between the production team and the support staffs if/when spec issues, shortages, non‑conformances, etc. are discovered. Critical communication and problem resolution skills are essential in the day‑to‑day activities of the Material Specialist. You will be responsible for managing, and expediting, as necessary, the flow of products, components, and information through production to optimize operations.

Essential Functions

Manage and maintain timely product flow from the warehouse through to the production line, to support production indexing.

Document and work‑to‑completion any/all shortages that occur for the value stream.

Manage and maintain all product availability in line side and kanban inventory storage locations.

Participate and support cycle count activities to ensure inventory accuracy and continuity of product flow.

Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Support and maintain effective and safe product storage practices.

Maintain consistent daily housekeeping of all areas of responsibility.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s):

High school diploma/GED.

Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.

Ability to obtain a forklift certification required.

3-5 years of experience in a materials department preferred.

Skills:

Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Able to perform simple tasks, such as creating an email and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening and closing files, and simple formulas.

Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.

Able to communicate progress of projects to the appropriate supervisor.

Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.

Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.

Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.

Other Qualifications:

Driving‑license (may be required to operate company vehicles to move parts needed from building to building for production purposes).

Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.

Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally; overtime as needed.

Travel: local, overnight, prolonged periods.
