Description Under the general direction of the Director of Growth, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying, qualifying and creating new business relationships between St. Francis Hospice and various customer segments within Brevard County. The role requires meeting routinely with personnel from physician offices, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, assisted living facilities, EMS, business community members or leaders and service groups. The primary purpose is to generate appropriate referrals to St. Francis Reflections LSC through one‑to‑one contact and group education.

Education And/Or Training Required

Associate’s Degree in a medical related field or clinical licensure, with relevant marketing/sales experience (experience may be accepted).

Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Public Relations preferred.

Certifications/Licenses Required

Unrestricted Driver’s License.

Experience/Specific Skills And Abilities Recommended

Physician and home health specialty experience; preferable pharmaceutical or hospice experience with an established book of business.

Two to three years of experience in healthcare‑related sales; understanding of end‑of‑life care and the referral process for hospice care.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication, customer service and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently.

Primary Responsibilities

Initiate, build, and maintain positive long‑term professional relationships with physicians, community, business, and all referral sources.

Act as liaison between St. Francis Hospice and referral sources, including physicians, discharge planners, personnel at nursing facilities, and community and business leaders.

Visit physician offices, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other health‑care organizations; and community and business leaders on a one‑to‑one basis to accomplish defined sales goals.

Develop objective‑based, implementable market outreach plans to achieve annual sales goals, structured to increase market penetration.

Educate community and business referral sources regarding the scope of services/programs offered by SFH.

Maintain and develop key sales skills in new customer development, manage the sales process, maintain knowledge of each key referral source, conduct appropriate interactions/communications with all customer groups, establish an effective plan for the assigned territory, and communicate/report issues to the VPBD through established processes.

Meet or exceed benchmarks for key sales functions.

Assist Community Engagement Coordinators with health fair presentations.

Work closely with other Business Development Specialists to develop coordinated market outreach plans and facility/community educational goals.

Collaborate with clinical personnel to achieve organizational goals.
