Position Summary The Shop Foreman/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring all equipment, vehicles, and tools are properly maintained, repaired, and safe for use. This role supervises mechanics and shop personnel, coordinates workflow, schedules maintenance, and ensures compliance with company, safety, and regulatory standards. The Shop Foreman/Supervisor supports efficient operations, minimizes equipment downtime, and maintains accurate maintenance records.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair Oversight

Assign and prioritize daily work orders for mechanics and technicians.

Oversee repairs and preventive maintenance on vehicles, small engine equipment, machinery, and tools.

Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.

Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide technical guidance.

Supervision and Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and support shop personnel, promoting teamwork and safety.

Train employees on proper maintenance procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.

Monitor performance and provide input for evaluations.

Ensure staffing levels support operational needs.

Inventory & Parts Management

Oversee ordering, receiving, and stocking of parts, supplies, tools, and shop materials.

Maintain accurate inventory and ensure availability of critical parts.

Review invoices and verify accuracy of parts and supply orders.

Safety and Compliance

Enforce all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Conduct shop safety inspections and participate in safety meetings and audits.

Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and waste.

Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization.

Equipment Records & Reporting

Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and inspection reports.

Track equipment downtime and assist with root-causes of recurring issues.

Communicate repair status, major concerns, or delays to management and field supervisors.

Support budgeting through maintenance cost tracking and forecasting.

Duties may or may not be subject to change.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Three (3) years of experience in equipment, fleet, or mechanical repair operations.

One (1) year of experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred.

Skills And Competencies

Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

Excellent communication and people skills.

Meet all physical requirements of the position.

Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations.

18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required.

Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred

CDL Class A or B.

Certifications in diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, or small engine repair.

Experience using fleet or maintenance management software.

This role is primarily based in a shop environment with occasional field support. Travel may be required for breakdowns, inspections, or training.
