Job Overview The Business Analyst enables Macy’s marketing by providing data and data management solutions. As a member of the marketing/digital team, the role serves as a liaison between business users and technology teams to advocate for marketing data, data marts, and systems/applications. This position ensures the quality and availability of data and supports the development of marketing solutions through accurate capture, translation, verification, and validation of business requirements.
What You Will Do
Participate in end-to-end documentation of data and reporting requirements for marketing system projects, including:
Identify source systems and data needed to meet current and future requirements.
Identify source and target mappings.
Define and validate transformation logic required for information requirements.
Participate in the solution development process to ensure the solution addresses all business requirements.
Establish and coordinate user acceptance testing and create testing plans.
Conduct testing and validation activities.
Deliver end‑user training.
Present status, milestones, and issues to management and stakeholders related to assigned projects.
Develop processes and supporting artifacts such as data dictionaries, data lineage, and other documentation.
Maintain a thorough understanding of analytics, data repositories, data models, and reporting systems by documenting underlying data elements, constraints, flows, and sources.
Serve as SME on Macy’s.com business processes, marketing/digital ecosystem, and external data sources.
Proactively identify gaps in data coverage, recommend enhancements, and pinpoint improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with customers to translate high‑level requirements into actionable products.
Help analyze day‑to‑day challenges with data and analytics/reporting systems, including:
Research data and system issues.
Resolve or prioritize issue resolution.
Identify data quality problems and support solution identification.
Interpret complex physical and logical data models.
Operate as a project coordinator within a cross‑functional/matrix team.
Perform other job‑related duties as requested.
Skills You Will Need
College degree (BA/BS) or equivalent work experience.
Over 5 years of business analyst experience.
More than 4 years working with databases.
At least 2 years of SQL experience.
Comfortable with GCP and other cloud platforms.
Extremely detail oriented.
Strong communication skills; able to interact with senior management, architects, data modelers, data visualization experts, and developers.
Capability to work independently to achieve results with minimal guidance.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
Analytical mindset with demonstrable critical‑thinking skills.
