Senior Pastor – First Baptist Church of Parishville (Parishville, NY)
First Baptist Church of Parishville (www.fbcparishville.org) is seeking a full‑time Senior Pastor. The church was established in 1820 and is an independent, fundamental, missions‑minded congregation located in northern New York, about 30 miles from the Saint Lawrence River.
The Big Picture We are looking for someone who is comfortable in a country‑type environment, has a servant’s heart, and is willing and able to lead the flock, leading by example the outreach and evangelism of our community.
The Church We are an independent, fundamental, missions‑minded church. We use the King James Bible for preaching and teaching. We use a hymnal in our worship services, augmented with choruses and acoustic, God‑honoring music. The Bible is our guide for faith and practice, though we do not dictate to members which Bible version to use at home. We have a covenant and constitution which the Bible will always take precedence over.
The Community Parishville is a very rural town with a population of just over 2,000. It has one gas and convenience store, no stoplights, and groceries/Walmart ten miles away. There are four universities within 15‑20 miles of the church. We have a baptistry; most prefer to use the St. Regis River at the back of the church. It is a picturesque and sparsely populated area.
Job Description We are looking for a candidate who can lead the congregation, providing pastoral care, preaching, teaching, and servant leadership in outreach and evangelism.
Qualifications
Must meet the biblical qualifications outlined in
1 Timothy 3:1–7 .
Must be in full agreement with our church’s doctrinal statement and the spirit of our constitution.
Must be a self‑starter with a high work ethic.
Passion for discipleship and evangelism.
Exemplifies humility and the servant attitude of Christ.
Responsibilities
Provide pastoral counseling, prayer support, and spiritual guidance.
Preach sermons and teach Sunday school.
Lead devotionals at prayer meetings (currently on Thursday evenings).
Conduct visitations.
Prepare weekly bulletins.
Perform minimal grounds maintenance such as mowing the lawn and clearing the church entrance of snow.
