Job Description Summary Position Objective This Mechanical Engineer 2 position designs components and assemblies of prototype HVAC products, redesigns components and assemblies of current products, and may design entirely new prototype products. This person will ensure that all drawings, specifications, production details, release information, product documentation, and any necessary design follow-up for the assigned product is delivered and meets established production requirements and schedules. The Mechanical Engineer 2 is able to finish incomplete designs, work within a team toward a common goal, perform independently with minimal supervision, and be a strong contributor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Position Responsibilities

Creates working parameters and specification for new product concepts, new products, or improvements to existing products and ensures that all components are designed within specified parameters and are manufacturable

Assists manufacturing and assembly during prototyping and production and performs follow-up engineering, as necessary

Ensures that the engineering design for new products and improvements to existing products meet market, safety, quality, performance, reliability, and durability requirements

Leads engineering projects and coordinates with the design team to ensure that all elements of the project are integrated with production

Designs and prepares prototypes that meet the needs of sales, marketing, manufacturing, and service

Secures the assistance of consultants or internal specialists (i.e., computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis support engineers, manufacturing engineers, and/or vendor experts), when necessary

Analyzes fault issues and solves engineering problems and investigates and employs the best technology available in the HVAC field

Leads team design reviews, safety reviews, and cost manufacturing reviews throughout the project

Ensures that all new and redesign development is engineered in accordance with all pertinent codes and specifications and that the designs reflect that engineering

Works with manufacturing engineers, technical support engineers, and others to determine if engineering changes are needed to meet production or performance constraints

Reviews product documentation and ensures it is complete and correct

Confirms system and product capabilities by developing feasibility and testing methods and suitable parameters

Performs miscellaneous duties as may be requested

Requirements Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus 3 years of experience in the field

Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD, CAM, and MATLAB/LabVIEW programs

Proficient in Inventor or equivalent

Demonstrates excellent mechanical, mathematical, and technical skills and abstract thinking and reasoning skills

Possesses knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and systems, engineering systems, and product coding

Bilingual English/Spanish competence a plus

Experience/Knowledge of HVAC systems and their design (preferred)

Proficient using CAD to design HVAC units and sheet metal and able to produce production-ready drawings

Experience designing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems for HVAC equipment

Professional Engineering (PE) license (plus)

Base Pay Range: $80,344.00 - 110,473.00
