We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) as part of the U.S. Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell’s High‑Speed Vertical Take‑Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next‑generation stop‑fold aircraft.
Rapid Prototyping Team, Tool Design This team guides the successful completion of major projects in support of strategic priorities and complex technical objectives.
What you’ll be doing as a Senior Rapid Prototyping Tool Design Engineer
Create and refine 3D models, apply GD&T principles, and design tooling for complex assemblies.
Develop fixtures, molds, and additive manufacturing solutions while integrating small sub‑assemblies into larger jigs.
Perform surface analysis and scan data reviews to ensure precision and quality, with safety and ergonomics built into every design.
Collaborate regularly through Microsoft Teams meetings and design reviews with customers and build teams to ensure alignment and project success.
Direct customer‑facing experience in assembly tool design, component tool engineering, or NC programming/machining roles.
Identify, report, and resolve potential safety and quality hazards/risks.
Coordinate design engineering and integrated operation teams for producibility analysis and manufacturing trade‑studies to determine cost‑effective tooling solutions.
Manage complex projects through a disciplined approach to initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing to achieve specific goals and success criteria.
Skills You Bring to This Role
Inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.
Catia V6 experience required; 3DX experience preferred.
Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
Ability to apply tool engineering and tool design analysis knowledge to evaluate discrepancies and anomalies.
What you need to be successful
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
At least 2 years of experience in tool engineering or tool design.
Assembly fixture design experience (large/minor assemblies, part handling) preferred.
Detail tool design experience (molds, trim tools, NC experience, grind fixtures).
Additive manufacturing tooling experience.
Surface analysis/scan data experience.
NOTE: Bell/Textron Relocation Assistance is NOT available for this role.
