as a Personal Financial Counselor to provide full‑spectrum financial counseling services to military service members and their families at assigned installations.
Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
Assist with establishing spending plans for extended absences.
Develop and disseminate financial informational materials.
Coordinate, publicize, and deliver diverse Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering all military lifecycle stages.
Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes, such as web‑based, secure chat, or video teleconference, as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership; participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and installation issues.
Engage in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; may consider an associate degree plus four years’ experience, or high school diploma plus six years’ experience.
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
U.S. citizenship and fluent English required; bilingual English/Spanish if contract requires.
Must obtain a Tier 2 investigation and pass OCIs disclosure process.
Certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) required.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $53,125 – $84,995. Eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package covering health, life, and wellness.
