Job Summary Nortek AirSolutions is seeking a talented and creative Research and Development Mechanical Engineer to join our Innovation Team at our Oklahoma facilities. As a member of the team, you will help bring pioneering technologies to market through research, development, prototyping, and testing. The role focuses on acoustics, vibrations, aerodynamics, energy efficiency, controls, electronics, thermal design, and mechanical systems, collaborating across multiple disciplines and with external partners.
Core Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams exploring new ideas and approaches to enhance product performance and develop new innovative technologies.
Utilize technical expertise and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to optimize product design for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Assist in all facets of new product development.
Conduct design simulations, prototyping, testing, analyses, and team reviews to ensure designs meet technical, performance, and quality standards.
Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in product design and development processes.
Occasional travel may be required within North America (up to 1 or 2 times per year).
Help with innovation pipeline concepts and design and present updates to senior leadership.
Mentor less experienced team members across a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Qualifications
Character focused with demonstrated leadership potential
Interest in research and development
Experience with ANSYS Mechanical Enterprise and CFD Premium, from a simulation user aspect and licensing administrator aspect
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
Experience with 3D modeling systems, with a preference for those with Autodesk Inventor experience
Good documentation, project management, and organization skills
Strong engineering aptitude with a focus on mechanical system design in a manufacturing environment – preference for HVAC system experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with a preference for an advanced degree
Seven to twelve years of engineering experience
