Direct Support Professional 1:1 (Day Hab) Primary responsibility is the management of one volunteer in the Day Program by ensuring the implementation and recording of the progress of habilitative and clinical service plans. The role also functions as a member of the activity room staff, performing routine direct care responsibilities regarding the activity room and other volunteers, as directed by the Site Manager. In the event of the volunteer’s absence, reassignment will be determined by the supervisor.

Assist the volunteer in any and all activities designed to manage maladaptive behaviors and/or clinical needs, promote independence and social maturity, and assist in the management of behavioral crisis situations in all areas within the day program and in the community. Must be proficient in behavioral management techniques.

Assists the Site Manager with implementation of interventions outlined in a volunteer’s day hab plan by executing service activities to enhance independent functioning, including ongoing and crisis behavior management, self‑care, a.d.l., recreation, community inclusion, and other activities directed by the Site Manager.

Ensures maintenance of program volunteer record book(s) by collecting data, writing narrative notes, and documenting observations as needed for accurate assessments and evaluations.

Reports all changes in volunteer behavior and functions to the Site Manager, PC (as needed) and appropriate clinical department, ensuring safety and protective oversight.

Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings with the Site Manager, offering and gathering specific information regarding the volunteer’s status and determining the need for modifications to the clinical plan.

Develops and improves job‑related skills by attending all scheduled in‑service training/meetings to ensure ongoing education, communication, and training on topics related to the MR/DD population.

Reports changes in a volunteer’s physical condition, including illness and/or injury, by contacting the day program’s health office to ensure timely medical care.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested by supervisor, including driving and adherence to corporate compliance and COMPASS.

Personal outcome measures training is required prior to completion of evaluations and assessments.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Six months experience supporting people with developmental disabilities preferred.

Proficient in all areas of verbal, written, and reading skills.

Will be expected to complete advanced training upon supervisor’s request (e.g., CPR, Clinical Training etc.); AMAP and SCIP‑R required.

Qualified NYS driver’s license required.
