IT/Business Analyst - Leader in Transitioning To Clean Energy

Overview This role blends business analysis with hands on IT application support. You will work closely with business stakeholders, service providers, and technology teams to understand needs, shape requirements, and ensure that applications and services run reliably. If you enjoy moving between detailed analysis, structured documentation, and relationship management, this position offers a chance to be at the center of change delivery and day to day operations.
What You Will Do You will split your focus between classic IT business analysis activities and light IT analyst duties. On one side you will lead requirement discovery, process analysis, and solution validation. On the other, you will help manage application support, vendor performance, and service reporting for a defined portfolio of systems. You will quickly become a subject matter expert on your assigned applications and the business processes they support.
Key Focus Areas
Partnering with business teams to capture and document clear, testable requirements
Tracing requirements through design, testing, and deployment so that scope remains visible and controlled
Leading structured meetings and workshops that keep projects organized and moving forward
Building strong relationships with customers, internal partners, and external vendors
Working with service providers to meet application support commitments and service level agreements
Reporting on the health of the application portfolio, including incidents, trends, and roadmap items
IT Business Analyst Responsibilities
Plan and facilitate requirement gathering sessions with business stakeholders and technical teams
Document business processes, user journeys, and data flows using standard analysis techniques
Translate business needs into clear business requirements and functional specifications
Ensure that requirements link directly to test cases and scenarios so that quality can be measured
Lead workshops and status meetings in a structured and organized way, with clear agendas, outcomes, and follow ups
Apply critical thinking to clarify problems, challenge assumptions, and help teams reach practical solutions
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business customers and software vendors
IT Analyst Responsibilities
Act as a primary point of contact for questions about assigned applications and related services
Collaborate with service partners to ensure timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and problem records
Monitor adherence to application support service level agreements and elevate risks or gaps when needed
Prepare regular status reports for customers and IT leaders, including the number and type of applications, incident volumes, and key trends
Summarize the health of the environment and highlight issues, risks, and upcoming changes
Work with stakeholders to align on short term and long term roadmaps for applications and services
Apply structured problem solving techniques to investigate root causes and recommend improvements
Detailed Responsibilities Across The Project Lifecycle
Demand and Opportunity Assessment Support business relationship leaders by reviewing new ideas and needs, capturing high level goals, and contributing analysis that shapes initial business cases
Business Planning Begin eliciting business requirements and modeling current and future processes. Record findings in standard documentation and share early concepts with architecture, applications, infrastructure, and service teams
Definition and Design Facilitate workshops to refine scope, gather detailed requirements, and create use cases and scenarios. Help visualize potential solutions using diagrams, mock ups, or simple prototypes
Requirements Elicitation Lead structured engagements to clarify business needs, objectives, and expected outcomes for processes and systems
Requirements Development Produce well structured, high quality requirements that are reviewed and approved by key stakeholders and that can be delivered effectively by technical teams
Requirements Management Maintain complete traceability between requirements, design, test cases, and deployed changes using appropriate tools and templates
Solution Assessment and Validation Work with stakeholders to confirm that proposed solutions meet business goals, scope, and strategy. Contribute to benefit identification and measurement plans
Delivery and Deployment Support Provide clarification on vision, scope, and requirements for project teams. Help manage change requests through defined processes and assist testing teams in developing effective test scripts
Standards and Templates Use established templates, tools, and internal processes consistently, and help refine them over time based on practical experience
Vendor and Product Engagement Participate in vendor discussions and product evaluations, contribute to the creation of RFIs and RFPs, and review proposed designs to ensure usability and alignment with requirements
Continuous Improvement Observe real world business processes and system usage, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend changes that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction
Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience that provides a solid foundation in relevant theories, principles, and concepts
Three to four years of experience in application or services analysis, deployment, and support
Experience working closely with external service providers and delegating operational activities as directed by leadership
Two or more years of experience in a software support environment working with third party vendors
Knowledge of IT infrastructure and software relationships, current trends, and good practices for both on premises and software as a service solutions
Comfort with common desktop tools and operating systems, including the Microsoft Office suite, project management tools, and other IT applications, with the ability to learn new technical concepts quickly
Strong analytical skills, including process analysis, problem solving, and root cause analysis
Proven collaboration, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
Experience working with ITIL based processes and performance metrics
Formal business analysis certification such as CBAP is a plus
Service And Governance Responsibilities
Communicate clearly with both technical and non technical audiences through presentations, written reports, diagrams, and user stories
Monitor and report on the performance, quality, and value of IT services and solutions using agreed metrics and indicators
Assess the business impact of IT risks and issues, escalation when appropriate, and support timely resolution to limit disruption
Understand and respect contractual obligations and service level agreements with service providers
Maintain a strong understanding of the application domain, including processes, data flows, system architecture, and integration points
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction
