Construction Inspector

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers and Architects We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Inspector for our Salina, KS office. This person will be responsible for the inspection of specific operations on construction job sites for transportation projects. The position requires an anticipated travel schedule, and inspectors generally report to various project locations. Roles And Responsibilities
Observe and inspect construction projects from beginning to completion, documenting daily progress, tracking materials and quantities, performing material sampling and testing, and maintaining accurate project records. Read and interpret plans, specifications, and other contract documents, and report any deviations from the contract. Conduct laboratory and field testing and prepare reports on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and other materials. Maintain clear written and oral communication, and respond to inquiries as required. Attend project meetings to gain insight into the project prior to construction and to receive progress updates. Measure and scale distances with competent math skills to provide accurate documentation of completed work. Required Skills
Must be able to travel and stay out of town a week at a time for on‑site observation, inspection, and testing. Capable of lifting and handling 50+ pounds. Knowledge of typical construction practices, MoDOT and/or KDOT specifications, and ability to learn on the job through observation and questioning. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with owners, landowners, and contractors. Disciplined individual who maintains accurate, timely, and descriptive records of daily, weekly, and monthly progress. Experience working with DOTs and understanding their requirements and expectations for projects. Job Location

2+ years of construction related experience preferred but not required. KDOT Technician Certification and/or KDOT Certified Inspector Training Program Certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain certification. Annual Salary Range
