Position Summary
Electrical Estimator 1
– Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for any discipline. Perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications.
What You’ll Do
Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Attend pre‑bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take‑offs.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete take‑off of scope of work, using Accubid estimating software.
Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
May provide support to field operations regarding MEP estimates.
Understanding and interpretation of current NEC chapters 1 & 2.
Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
Required Skills & Experience
Familiarity with Accubid McCormick or similar electrical estimating software.
Working knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control.
Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines.
High school degree or equivalent; technical training or advanced education preferred.
2–5 years estimating, controls, and/or engineering experience related to construction.
