Lead Line Cook (BELL GARDENS, CA. 90201) Parkwest Casinos is searching for an exceptional and talented Lead Line Cook to assist the Executive Chef in overseeing the kitchen and everyday matters. The right candidate will help us provide guests with the most outstanding food and dining experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver cooking services and meet required standards of performance by following policies, procedures, work instructions, training initiatives, codes of conduct, best practices, and safety laws and regulations.

Open for each shift by setting up the workstation with required tools, equipment and supplies; check the production schedule; establish priority items; transport supplies from the storeroom; inform the Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef of any required replenishment; start prep work on each assigned menu item.

Prepare all assigned menu items following recipes and yield guides while ensuring proper health and safety procedures during food preparation and storage.

Communicate supply shortages or excess items to the Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef, and request assistance during busy periods.

Break down the station at the shift’s end by returning all food items to proper storage; wrapping, covering, labeling and dating all items being stored; cleaning and wiping down prep areas; returning utensils and equipment to assigned areas; transporting dirty pots/pans to the wash station; turning off unnecessary equipment; restocking depleted items.

Assist with additional tasks such as emptying trash containers, cleaning kitchen facilities, assisting with inventories, assisting with menu research/testing, performing duties in other kitchen areas, etc.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be available to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime when needed.

Must pass mandatory screening, including a background check and drug test.

Must possess a California Food Handler Card.

Can read, understand, and follow recipes.

Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, utensils, and procedures.

Effectively interacts with customers and co‑workers.

Works varied shifts and flexible schedules.

Communicates clearly with team members.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi‑task effectively.

Works independently and within a team, responding to quick changes in priority.

Education and Experience Certificate from college or technical school; or three years’ experience in a kitchen of comparable quality; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with French, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, and Persian cuisines a plus.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 100 pounds.

Must be able to walk, stand, and bend at the neck for 3 or more hours a day.

Position requires repetitive use of hands for simple and power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing & pulling, and reaching throughout the shift.

Position may expose the employee to excessive noise, dust, gas, flames, chemicals, and extreme temperature, humidity, or wetness.

Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.

Compensation USD $21.00/Hr. USD $23.00/Hr.
