Senior P&C Commissioning Specialist

Reports To:

P&C Area Supervisor

Job Summary:

Performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer's facilities, including electrical testing, preventive maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. Responsible for troubleshooting, training, establishing LOTO, interacting with customers, report writing, etc.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Act as a single point of contact with the customer's representatives as necessary to maintain customer relations.

Schedule and coordinate day‑to‑day activities at assigned project locations.

Become familiar with all applicable policies and procedures and ensure that information is communicated effectively to all team members.

Attend project safety and planning meetings as required.

Assist with job cost estimates and proposals.

Create and maintain project schedules.

Review the financial health of assigned projects and track project costs.

Communicate potential schedule or cost overruns to the Area Supervisor in a timely manner.

Assist with development or provide justification for change orders as necessary.

Constantly explore new business or customer opportunities.

Lead multiple projects as necessary.

Must be willing to travel overnight as needed.

Identify safety hazards associated with the project and develop a task‑hazard‑mitigation analysis.

Identify human performance risks and develop a task‑risk‑mitigation analysis.

Supervise, mentor, and train less experienced team members.

Provide feedback to Area Supervisors on performance reviews and assessments.

Review timesheet and expense reports and submit to customer for approval.

Ensure team members are adhering to Premier Power policies and procedures.

Perform site visits and job safety audits.

Provide technical support and assistance for team members.

Foster teamwork by encouraging cross training and leveraging strengths.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Able to provide evidence of leading the successful execution of numerous P&C commissioning projects.

Strong understanding of protection relay schemes, P&C commissioning procedures, and relay testing.

Ability to use a variety of relay test sets and automated relay testing software.

Strong understanding of network communications including TCP/IP, DNP, Modbus and media structures such as Ethernet, Serial over copper, fiber optics, telephone or wireless systems and powerline carrier systems.

Familiar with construction and apparatus testing standards and procedures. NETA III or IV certification is a plus.

Strong understanding of NERC Standards and CIP policies and procedures and required compliance documentation.

Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with project management software is a plus.

Strong working knowledge of electrical industry software from manufacturers such as SEL, GE, Cooper, Novatech, ABB, Siemens, etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication with customers and team members.

Demonstrated organizational skills for time and expense reporting and status updates.

Responsible for maintaining a professional appearance and keeping tools, test equipment, and vehicles clean and calibrated.

Work Environment

Close, but safe, proximity to live electrical substations.

Flexible hours including overtime, nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Overnight, multi‑day and out‑of‑town projects.

Availability for calls, technical advice, and workforce scheduling outside normal hours.

Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.

Standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, and grasping required.

Education And Work Experience

Associate's technical degree or equivalent military training in Army Prime Power or Naval Nuclear Power fields with minimum 5 years of P&C, project management, substation commissioning or related experience.

Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 12 months of employment.

Other Requirements

Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check, education verification, motor vehicle report, physical abilities test, approved hair and urine drug screen, and periodic random testing.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle up to 26k lbs.

Willingness to obtain company‑paid TWIC, OSHA 10 hour, NFPA 70‑E, and CPR training.
