About The Role As a PreSales Solutions Architect specializing in Planet’s Hyperspectral offerings, you will showcase the value of Tanager‑derived data and services, helping organizations in the hyperspectral community address their most pressing Earth observation challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams—including Customer Success, Product Management, Professional Services, and Business Development—serving as the voice of the customer to shape and enhance Planet’s industry solutions.
This is a full‑time, remote position based in the United States (East Coast). If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week. This role requires frequent international travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
Build and deliver presentations and product demonstrations, highlighting technical capabilities of Planet’s platform and our ability to fulfill customer business needs.
Build relationships with customer technical and management staff as a trusted advisor.
Recommend solutions architecture that fits business challenges.
Assist with tenders, RFIs, RFPs, and proposals for product/solution information.
Collaborate with sales team colleagues to determine account development plans and execute strategies to engage customers and prospects.
Work with internal cross‑functional teams to act as the voice of the customer, assist with RFP and RFI preparation and submissions.
Achieve quarterly and annual sales and operational objectives assigned by management.
Represent Planet’s hyperspectral customer requirements to Sales leadership, communicating forecasts, pipeline opportunities, deal reviews, data in CRM tools, and customer feedback.
Present to key executive government stakeholders.
Mentor team members and lead training to drive their development.
Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a US TS/SCI security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Earth/Environmental Science, or other relevant field.
6+ years of experience in applied hyperspectral data analysis and applications.
Experience crafting hyperspectral use cases and presentations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Experience with GIS and Remote Sensing users.
Experience in IMINT, ISR, and related fields.
Experience with ERDAS, QGIS, SocketGXP, ArcGIS, GDAL, and other common geospatial and hyperspectral software packages.
Ability to successfully coordinate with international customers and sales teams.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and proactive working mindset.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Advanced Python skills to process imagery, manipulate hyperspectral data, interact with Planet’s APIs, and build data pipelines.
Ability to lead customer engagements and run workshops or training sessions with users.

Compensation The US base salary range for this full‑time position is listed below. The role may also be eligible for discretionary short‑term and long‑term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job‑related experience, skills, and location.
New York City + California: $126,280—$157,850 USD
San Francisco: $134,960—$168,700 USD
US National: $116,340—$145,390 USD
