Responsibilities Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108‑bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems.

We are seeking qualified applicants for our

Human Resources Generalist position.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing professional level support to the HR Director, related to facility and department goals and objectives. This position assists in multiple areas of HR including recruitment, employee relations, retention strategies and performance management. It also assists with departmental compliance with facility, legal and regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Responsible for full‑cycle recruitment for assigned: posting, sourcing, interview and selection, hiring and onboarding.

Prepares and processes HR‑related documentation, including offer letters, status changes and termination paperwork.

Connects with local educational programs and other community resources for candidate sourcing and partnerships; assists with planning and execution of job fairs and events.

Helps coordinate and prepare for New Hire Orientation, staff onboarding requirements and maintenance of staff education requirements while meeting facility and regulatory requirements.

Effectively uses HRIS systems for data input and report writing; manages employee records and ensures timely updates in personnel files; generates and distributes routine HR reports.

Assists with engagement and retention programs, including the onboarding program for the Behavioral Health facilities; actively involved with planning and participation in employee engagement activities.

Performs HR file audits to ensure regulatory compliance (including files for non‑employed staff and other contractors).

Responds to insurance and unemployment compensation correspondence and employment verifications as assigned.

Under guidance of the HR Director, conducts internal investigations as assigned.

Under guidance of the HR Director, provides support to facility management with disciplinary actions, improvement plans and conflict resolution.

Meets with staff via exit interviews as assigned and assists with reporting on exit interview data.

Provides administrative support for HR operations, including document preparation, record maintenance, reporting, compliance tracking and coordination of HR projects and initiatives as assigned by HR leadership.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

Previous HR experience required

Previous related healthcare experience preferred

PHR, SPHR and/or SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP preferred

Knowledge of federal, state and local HR/employment laws and regulations

Compliance with administrative agencies

Use of Microsoft Office programs

Effective communication skills, ability to problem‑solve and conflict resolution skills
