Role Overview The Therapy Specialist will support the St. Louis territory by providing comprehensive clinical and patient support to Mainstay Medical’s customers and sales teams. The role drives demand, accelerates the sales process through education and training, and participates in clinical cases as required. This person adds value to the sales process, helps develop a loyal customer base, and brings Mainstay Medical’s therapy to market effectively.
Responsibilities Drive Demand for Mainstay Products
Conduct strategic, evidence‑based product presentations and interactive demonstrations to clinical decision makers and physicians across hospitals, ASCs, physician practices, and other clinical settings.
Implement targeted awareness campaigns by identifying and engaging key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the territory and recruiting them for local or regional training programs.
Develop customized educational content tailored to address clinical challenges and priorities of different stakeholders.
Create and nurture clinical champions within accounts by providing exceptional support and demonstrating commitment to patient outcomes.
Support the Commercial Efforts of the Sales Team
Provide ongoing clinical education and comprehensive case support through structured training and refresher sessions.
Collaborate with Therapy Managers, Area Business Managers, and Sales Leaders to identify high‑potential accounts and develop value propositions.
Transition to primary account maintenance once implant volumes reach established thresholds.
Foster cross‑functional relationships with field‑based partners through joint planning and account strategy reviews.
Provide Clinical Input and Customer Feedback
Serve as Mainstay Medical’s clinical authority during surgeries and device implantations, providing equipment, guidance, and troubleshooting.
Serve as primary contact for implanted patients and conduct device system interrogations using proprietary software.
Provide on‑call support for surgeries, reprogramming, MRI, troubleshooting, and follow‑ups.
Implement a multi‑tiered educational approach for implanting physicians, referring clinicians, hospital staff, and office staff, including one‑on‑one sessions, in‑service programs, and seminars.
Document clinical insights and communicate findings to product development and marketing teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, physical therapy, or related field (or equivalent combination of education/experience).
Minimum 2+ years of progressive experience with a track record in developing and nurturing customer relationships and account management.
Travel Requirements
Extensive travel within assigned territory and to regional meetings, conferences, and field training programs (typically 60‑80%).
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Technical Knowledge and Skill
Demonstrated clinical expertise in hospital environments, especially operating room protocols.
2+ years of hands‑on clinical experience in hospital settings with direct patient care or medical device support.
