What You’ll be Doing as a Sales Engineer Clean Power Research seeks a pre‑sales problem solver with extensive utility expertise to bridge the gap between our SaaS products and customer business needs during the sales cycle. Supporting our utility Account Executives, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for actively driving the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. You’ll join a growing team of accomplished and high‑performing professionals that are passionate about helping our customers adapt and thrive in a changing energy landscape.

You’ll be developing and supporting a global sales pipeline of high‑value utility accounts while executing sales strategies to secure deals that will meet (or exceed!) aggressive account acquisition and revenue goals. You’ll identify and build relationships with key influencers and decision‑makers within the technical management and decision‑making teams of prospective customers.

You’ll be a subject matter expert in CPR and partners of software solutions associated with the automation of core solution areas like utility distribution, transmission, and large load interconnection processes. You’ll also be responsible for creating and delivering compelling product demonstrations, including showcasing our flagship PowerClerk® product and key integrations between our products and third‑party products to provide our customers with complete end‑to‑end workflow solutions. You will have ample opportunity to explore and develop new and evolving use cases for our products along with the latest AI solutions.

Travel requirement: ~25%. This is an in‑office role based in our Bellevue, WA office.

Duties and Responsibilities Pre‑Sales Support

Collaborate with Account Executives and other front‑line company staff to understand customer requirements

Prepare and deliver tailored product demonstrations and proof‑of‑conceptions

Contribute to RFP responses and technical questionnaires

Technical Expertise

Deeply understand the product use cases, architecture, features, and integration capabilities

Build demo scripts, prompts, workflows, forms, and reports for custom scenario presentations

Stay updated on industry standards, security protocols, and compliance requirements

Sales Enablement

Maintain demos, demo environments and related documentation

Represent the company at trade shows and speaking engagements

Customer Engagement

Provide technical support during sales calls

Capture feature requests for the product roadmap and participate in prioritization exercises

Internal Collaboration

Identify process improvements and participate in upgrading workflows

Share insights with Product Management and Engineering teams to enhance offerings

Who You Are

BA/BS degree in a scientific or engineering discipline strongly preferred

5+ years as a sales engineer or in a technical selling role successfully selling enterprise SaaS, or equivalent experience in the utility industry

Familiarity with utility business processes and software tools related to interconnection, service requests, and grid planning

Experience developing and delivering compelling software demonstrations

Aptitude to learn and apply the latest AI features

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Superior organizational skills, ability to multitask across many concurrent opportunities

Comfortable presenting in front of internal and external groups, including key stakeholders and executive audiences

Experience in the utility industry is a huge plus

Pay Range & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $95,000 to $132,500 annual depending on experience

Benefits: Additional Compensation – Bonus or Commission Potential
