Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to help provide engineering design services for process mechanical projects such as digester heating systems and boilers, gas conveyance, plant utilities piping systems, pumping stations, heat transfer systems, and heat recovery engineering work. The candidate is expected to be a mechanical task leader and provide oversight to junior engineers’ work, as well as mentor entry level mechanical engineers. The candidate will be expected to lead mechanical tasks and drive projects to design completion including through construction engineering services. You will be able to develop technically with significant design work expected in this position. We are seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to support Carollo’s vision of becoming the best water consulting firm. As part of our team, you will work on projects related to municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, including but not limited to major treatment plant expansions, as well as provide engineering for industrial and manufacturing facilies as it relates to their water use, and critical water heat recovery projects that will create sustainable and resilient water supply or treatment for the world. Responsibilities

Production of contract documents including plans and specifications Develops Process and Control schematics Performs system hydraulic calculations Familiar with thermodynamics and heat transfer Mentors and trains entry-level mechanical engineers Prepares construction and design cost estimates Manages the mechanical portion of small to medium sized projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities Interfaces with client and internal project management team Works directly with the mechanical division manager to enhance our technical capabilities Works with multi-discipline project teams Prepares technical memorandums and reports Works as part of the project team and to effectively complete one or more portions of large or complex tasks Works with experienced mechanical engineers to develop mechanical design and analysis approach Follows selected design approach through completion of analysis, detailing and presentation Recognizes results for discrepancies or inconsistencies Attends to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specifications Works logically and is technically consistent with design standards and accuracy Improves technical knowledge and skills Considers and refines existing standards and approaches for application to specific projects Maintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team members Plans work so that broad tasks and specific details are correctly sequenced and followed through to completion Back checks work for approach and correctness Monitors scope, schedule, and budget Understands and implements company and client technical standards on projects Controls the mechanical work for a small project or an element of a larger project Productively works through conflicts to keep the project moving forward Some travel required when requested Makes site visits to observe site conditions during construction and operation Performs Quality Management and constructability reviews of plans and specifications Qualifications

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 6-12 years experience in the design of mechanical systems as listed below Registration as a Professional Engineer in Idaho Proficient in the design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of national and local energy codes Basic knowledge of IBC, IFC and NFPA 820 Strong knowledge of design of pumping systems Ability to read and understand P&IDs, control strategies, and the development of control schematics based upon these documents Ability to work with multi-discipline project teams Ability to make basic technical decisions regarding analysis and detailing Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks and move projects forward Listens and understands the concerns and needs with other office and team members Ability to control behavior under situations involving pressure, conflict and uncertainty Communicates clearly and concisely in speech, writing, and contract documents Presents communications in an organized fashion and with appropriate level of detail Organized in collecting and storing project information and calculations Constructively builds and maintains relationships with others on the project design team Manages time effectively, while maintaining a positive attitude channeled toward achievement Seeks help at appropriate intervals Requires general awareness of interrelationships required for successful project design team Understanding that his/her performance and actions impact future work opportunities General awareness that technical issues impact mechanical engineering approach Aware of the “business” of mechanical engineering as well as technical design issues Strong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasive Comfortable in public speaking roles Proficient in MS Word, Powerpoint, and Excel Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu and PipeFlow Experience in the design of pumping, heat exchangers, compressed air, closed loop piping systems, and other miscellaneous systems for industrial, manufacturing, or wastewater facilities Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Compensation Range

$102,000 to $115,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
