Lead Phlebotomist

The Lead Phlebotomist will perform procedures including venipuncture and capillary puncture. They will be responsible for accurate patient identification and proper labeling of specimens at the bedside, communicate with patients, doctors, and other hospital staff, assist with ordering supplies, new staff training and competency assessment, annual competency assessment of all phlebotomists, and continuing education of staff.
Qualifications
Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Completion of a phlebotomy training course or on‑job training in a CAP certified hospital laboratory.
Certification: CPR certification required; PBT (ASCP), CPT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
Training and Experience: Three to 5 years experience in a CAP or JCAHO certified hospital clinical laboratory preferred. Must have a thorough understanding of Clinical Laboratory procedures.
Unusual Physical Demands And Working Conditions
Requires ability to lift and move boxes of supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
Job requires extended periods of standing, walking, and use of stairway.
Job involves exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, and potential infectious diseases.
