Physical Therapist Orthopedic Resident
Position Type: Full time - 32 hours per week - 13 month residency program - beginning July 2025. Must hold Indiana Physical Therapy License.

Job Summary The Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and administers therapeutic procedures in physical medicine and rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring physician. This role establishes individualized physical therapy goals, provides treatments, and regularly reassesses patient progress, documenting all findings accurately.
Essential Functions
Conduct thorough physical therapy evaluations to assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
Administer safe and effective therapy treatments, ensuring all interventions are appropriately documented.
Reassess and adjust treatment plans within appropriate timeframes to align with patient progress and changing needs.
Provide clear, concise, and accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and billing information.
Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, therapeutic exercises, and post-treatment care to support long-term recovery.
Operate therapy equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
Collaborate with referring physicians, peers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
Demonstrate population‑appropriate competencies for all relevant patient demographics, tailoring care to individual needs.
Maintain compliance with facility policies, including safety, infection control, and risk management procedures.
Adapt to changes professionally and effectively, following the chain of command to address and resolve issues impacting patient care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) required
0‑2 years of experience in a physical therapy setting required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, therapeutic techniques, and safety standards.
Ability to perform comprehensive evaluations and develop effective treatment plans.
Proficiency in using therapy equipment and technology for documentation and billing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and maximize productivity.
Commitment to professional development and adherence to ethical and legal standards.
Licenses and Certifications
PT – Physical Therapist license in the state of employment required
BCLS – Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire required
