The Consumer Loan Underwriter I is responsible for evaluating and approving consumer loan applications. This role involves assessing creditworthiness, ensuring compliance with lending policies, and providing exceptional service to members by facilitating their financial needs through sound lending decisions.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN ON-SITE, IN-PERSON POSITION. CANDIDATE MUST RESIDE IN STATE OF MAINE, POSSIBLE HYBRID OPPORTUNITY ONCE FULLY TRAINED
Qualifications
Serve as the primary contact for dealerships and members with indirect loan needs
Complete and respond to employee, member, and dealer loan decisioning and funding requests with varying degrees of complexity
Maintain accurate records of loan decisions and ensure all documentation is complete and up to date
Provide recommendations for loan approvals, denials, or alternative solutions to meet members' financial needs
Individuals will go on dealership visits to engage networking and support for our indirect partners
Required Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in consumer loan underwriting or a related financial services role
Experience in evaluating creditworthiness and risk assessment for loan applicants
Familiarity with loan processing systems and financial software applications
Strong analytical skills to assess financial information and make informed decisions
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to consumer lending.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
