$35.00/hr - $48.00/hr Job Summary
Oneida Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide care for patients in our Radiology Department. This position exists in the Radiology Department and involves responsibility for performing diagnostic imaging and procedures of patients using radiation producing equipment. The work is performed under the general direction of a Supervising Radiologic Technologist with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgement in carrying out technical details of the work. Does related work as required. Key Responsibilities
Capturing images, obtaining the best quality image while critiquing films. Ensure patients are comfortable, safe, and covered during examinations. Positioning the patient’s properly to obtain proper imaging. Take a proper medical history from the patient and document properly. Effectively explain the procedure to the patient, answer any questions, and acknowledge they understand. Need to be able to adjust and maintain all imaging equipment. Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments and jewelry that may interfere with the procedure. Setting up the equipment’s parameters to obtain the best density, detail and contrast using collimation and ALARA. Take preventative measures to avoid any unnecessary exposure to radiation. Be able to perform exams in the OR with the C-arm. Have knowledge of radiation safety regulations and guidelines for fluoroscopy and C-arm use. Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, pediatric, ailing and handicapped and provide age specific care. Must be able to follow the physician’s instructions. Know how to use proper shielding. Be capable of operating all x-ray equipment and associated computer software. Including EMR and PACS systems. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, creating and maintaining a sterile field. Work side by side with the radiologist during fluoroscopic exams and be able to set the room up for Fluoroscopy studies and procedures. Must be able to learn the ordering/cancelling, editing process of exams. Maintain adequate supplies and stock rooms throughout their shift. Performs other job duties as assigned to them. Keeps updated on new Imaging developments through professional journals, on the job training and other educational opportunities. Obtain proper patient consent including discussion of risks vs benefits for iodinated contrast and invasive procedures. Assist coworkers during down time. Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an approved JCERT program (Required) License And Certifications
ARRT & licensed by NYS (Required) BLS (Required) Experience
Medical Imaging: 1 year (Preferred) Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to lift and position patients as necessary. Seniority level
