The Cloud Architect will provide the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of Google Cloud initiatives. The ideal candidate will understand both Google’s cloud offerings and offerings from other key cloud solution providers like Confluent and EDB. The Cloud Architect will work with the CI/CD, Software Development and System integration teams to ensure the development and deployment of best‑in‑class cloud solutions. The Cloud Architect will understand the software development life cycle and modern agile approaches. This role elicits requirements, evaluates options, provides direction on implementation and operational support. As a senior resource, the Cloud Architect must understand client requirements and how Landis+Gyr cloud solutions fit into those requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous device/IoT and device data management data solution experience.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze functional and market requirements to produce optimized Cloud, on premise and hybrid architectures and designs

Understand, recommend, and optimize solutions to minimize total cost of ownership while meeting market needs

Work with DBAs and System Architects on design the architecture of the overall system, making sure selected technologies and tools fit the architecture in a performant, cost effective manner

Work closely with the Operations team to handoff and train up on developed cloud solutions and assist in the resolution of critical Production issues.

Relational Database solutions including at least one of

PostgreSQL/Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL

MS SQL Server/CloudSQL for SQL Server

Oracle

Spanner

Two or more programming languages

C# .NET Core

Java

Python

Kafka or another pub/sub solution

Cloud Security

Multi‑tenant management

CI/CD tools including at least one of

Gitlab Runners

Terraform

Ansible

Jenkins

Containeriztion and container management

Virtualization

HA and DR strategies

Agile methodology

ML and Cloud Analytics is a plus

Knowledge of the utility industry (Electric, Gas, Water) is a plus

Experience defining and implementing highly performant enterprise architectures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to create new and maintain existing data dictionaries and database documentation.

Self‑starter, well organized and ability to work following processes and methodologies

Accountabilities

Work in diverse cross functional development teams including resources both foreign and domestic.

Ability to convey complex topics to management, to customers and to software development teams.

Ability to work in small teams, as well as independently, with minimal supervision

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree

7+ years of experience as a Developer/Architect

5+ years of experience in Cloud computing including on premise to cloud migrations and hybrid cloud solutions.

5+ years of experience with SOA and/or micro‑services

3+ years of experience in test automation and CI/CD

Multi‑dimensional (diverse) product development experience is a plus

Google Cloud Platform experience

AWS and Azure experience is a plus

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Safety/PPE/OHSAS

Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc.

Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. Reasonable accommodations provided for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of

$112,965 - $162,627

per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
