Pre-Press Operator
Department: Administration and Planning | UniPrint Printing and Copying Production
Responsibilities
Prepare and place files for digital, wide format and offset printing
Process electronic files, import them into software, and impose onto the press sheet
Make color, text, and digital image corrections as needed, including assembly, typesetting, and die lines
Produce required proofs and work closely with the CSR to ensure output is correct
Perform platemaking tasks and maintain the platemaker
Monitor inventory levels of proofers and alert supervisor of ordering needs
Input information in the computer system to track materials and labor
Meet production deadlines and output schedules assigned by supervisors
Arrange assigned work in the most efficient and cost-effective manner
Perform general tasks and routine assignments under moderate supervision with some independent judgment
Required Education High School Graduate or equivalent education/experience
Required Experience 1 year of relevant experience, including working offset printing and digital copying
Knowledge of all facets of printing and copying (pre-press, pressroom, bindery and mailing)
Strong computer literacy skills: locating, moving, imposing, and troubleshooting files
Experience in color management
Desired Experience Strong proficiency with the Adobe Suite and offset workflow (Fuji XMF)
Thorough knowledge of processes, equipment, materials, and methods of operation
Knowledge of paper and differences in stock
Strong problem‑solving skills; ability to meet production schedules; ability to multitask
Ability to sit for 8 hours or more
Additional Information The target hiring range for this job profile is $20.24 - $26.44 hourly. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
