The Packaging Operator is responsible for inspecting HDPC packaging and labels, monitoring and operating packaging and finishing equipment, and performing equipment changeovers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role supports production goals through equipment oversight, quality inspections, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety and quality management systems.
Job Duties
Inspect HDPC packaging, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications
Monitor, operate, and adjust packaging and finishing equipment to maintain efficiency and product quality
Perform equipment changeovers, including size and order changes, following lockout/tagout procedures
Supervise machine settings to ensure products meet quality and efficiency standards
Maintain a constant supply of raw materials to the packaging process
Inspect incoming raw materials, packaging materials, boxes, and labels for quality
Troubleshoot line and product issues and resolve equipment jams, including accessing equipment as required
Communicate defects, quality concerns, and production issues to manufacturing and quality team members
Provide appropriate disposition of nonconforming or sub-quality products
Assist with preventative maintenance activities in coordination with the maintenance team
Assist team members and participate in job rotation and shift relief as neededCommunicate key production and operational information to incoming and outgoing shifts
Identify and communicate training needs for self and other team members
Maintain accurate awareness and execution of Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety standards
Optimize production volume and product quality while adhering to safety requirements
Job Qualifications
Previous manufacturing or packaging experience preferred
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production goals
Strong commitment to safety and quality
Must be able to pass a background check.
Physical Demands
Frequently will push, pull, carry, and lift 50lbs.
Frequent walking, standing, stretching, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements
Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Frequently must be able to work in moderate noise, up to 83 decibels.
Exposure to noise environment requires hearing protection.
Must be able and willing to work in non-temperature-controlled environment, exposed to weather conditions.
