Reports To Produce Department Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides customer service to guests
Assist guests with finding items they are looking for on or off the sales floor
Takes orders and other special requests
Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette
Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues; if further assistance is required, bring concern to the Produce Department Manager
Stocking and maintaining product levels
Fill all items on display
Make sure products are rotated, using first-in-first-out method
Follow display standards
Make the sales floor clean and tidy; no messes or spills
Maintain produce supplies (e.g., roll bags, twist ties, etc.)
Manage Log Sheets
Take temperatures of everything regularly
Fill out rotation sheets daily
Record shrink daily
Maintain Produce Cooler; rotate items within using first-in-first-out method, keep cooler clean and organized at all times
Product Order – responsible for ordering some products (e.g., dips, spices, herbs, etc.)
Other duties as assigned
Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and provide adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
Qualifications
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel
Good oral and written communication skills; ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment
Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies
Ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards; proper training and knowledge of equipment and procedures such as slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler
Knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and ability to make timely and effective decisions
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
Full range of upper body motion
Must be able to work at a fast pace
May be exposed to extreme temperatures
Work Schedule
Part-time hourly position, scheduled 28 hours a week or less
Shift variation includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays
