Position Summary This position is a critical role that provides workplace safety, operational, computer, and equipment training to over 120 employees in the Grounds Department. The incumbent prepares training documents and lesson plans on operational safety, equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance, and other safety topics. The incumbent also logs training documentation for all employees and delivers refresher courses as needed.

Minimum Qualifications High‑school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years of teaching experience in high school, technical school, adult learning, or a related environment.

Bachelor’s degree in education, communication, or a related field.

Bilingual proficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Knowledge of training methodology, time‑management, and organizational skills.

Ability to demonstrate, present, and teach effectively in front of groups.

Ability to operate audiovisual equipment.

Ability to develop teaching material utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Translator) and Adobe Photoshop.

Knowledge of landscape and hard‑scape maintenance and operations.

Physical Demands

Lift up to 40 lbs.

Sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, and climb stairs during a normal workday.

Read and communicate effectively.

Drive to perform job‑related duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

Conduct training classes as part of the Grounds Academy, provide individualized training curriculum, and deliver refresher training for probationary and existing staff. Facilitate the ELDT training program and new‑employee orientation.

Prepare training documents and master lesson plans covering operational safety, equipment maintenance/preventative maintenance, and related safety topics. Use visual equipment and other instructional media for classroom exercises and the PEP system.

Enter training records into Word documents, spreadsheets, and electronic systems.

Prepare monthly/annual training reports, coordinate changes to the training curriculum, and document training records of personnel.

Manage filing systems for training records, lesson plans, and related documentation.

Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Information Employment Type: Employee, Full Time. Benefits Eligibility: Benefits Eligible. Retirement Plan: TRS. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. No on‑call. Not an essential worker. Some night and/or weekend work may be needed to meet organizational needs.

Advertised Salary: $45 000+.

Location: Athens Area.
