Position Summary

Responsible for providing interim coverage of open sales territories, including all aspects of sales territory management—selling specialty Neurology product to Movement Disorder Specialists and Neurologists. Able to move within the U.S. as business needs dictate. Interim coverage typically spans 1–6 months, after which the individual may be assigned to another opening. Upon successful 12‑month performance, eligible to apply for a full‑time long‑term territory assignment.

Primary Responsibilities

Effectively impacts existing and new customers by providing exceptional value and service, helping providers to identify and start appropriate patients on therapy.

Educates physicians and their staff on the value of the company’s products for patient care.

Utilizes knowledge, critical thinking, and dialogue skills to deliver meaningful customer experiences that result in satisfaction, equity, and loyalty.

Anticipates, identifies and appropriately addresses HCP objections, questions, and concerns.

Utilizes appropriate techniques to gain consistent access to customers.

Utilizes appropriate sales aids, clinical reprints, etc., according to training, tailoring resources to customer needs.

Builds strong relationships with HCP customers, including key opinion leaders (KOLs), within the territory.

Investigates customer concerns and communicates with appropriate staff to resolve issues promptly.

Analyzes sales potential and executes in the territory to achieve strong business results, working within budgets and policies.

Develops and adjusts quarterly business/action plans as needed.

Prepares and submits timely business transaction reports and accurate expense records.

Provides guidance on pricing and reimbursement; acts as liaison for reimbursement queries.

Collaborates with sales management, regional teammates, and cross‑functional teams.

Attends conferences, trainings, exhibits, meetings, and product launches as required.

Leads when appropriate, operating with a positive, collaborative attitude.

Maintains compliance with all regulations.

Participates in training new Sales Specialists and in cross‑functional projects.

Mentors junior Sales Specialists as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Provide approved resources, including product samples, clinical trial data, and patient brochures.

Manage relationships with key customers and community stakeholders.

Knowledge

Develop deep neuroscience and Acadia product knowledge, and awareness of local and regional market trends.

Pursue ongoing personal development aggressively.

Earn a reputation as a subject‑matter expert and valued resource.

Be a disease‑state and product information expert.

Education and Experience External Candidate Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with an emphasis in the life sciences.

Preferred minimum of 2 years of healthcare sales experience.

Ability to travel 90% of the time and live in assigned geographies for 1–6‑month intervals. Must be in good standing with the FDA and OIG.

Must Possess

Demonstrated selling skills and effective dialogue with customers.

Rapidly build relationships with key customers and within the neuroscience community.

Capacity to live within the territory in temporary housing and relocate every 3–6 months.

Exceptional disease‑state and product knowledge.

Strong persuasive selling and negotiation skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to assess territory business opportunities and customer needs, acting as a business owner.

Ability to learn and apply technical/scientific knowledge and business analyses.

Excellent organization, initiative, and self‑motivation.

Professionalism, integrity, and compliance in a highly regulated environment.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Follow fleet management program guidelines.

Willingness to drive company‑provided vehicle daily, including overnight travel and occasional air travel.

Scope Utilizing professional concepts and company objectives, resolve complex issues creatively and effectively, exercising judgment in selecting methods and evaluation criteria.

Physical Requirements Requires regular standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands. May need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and communicate verbally and visually both in office and remote settings. Occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Requires independent overnight travel and, if necessary, work after hours.

Travel

Up to 90% of the time, traveling independently and staying overnight as directed by the territory’s geography. May need to live within a reasonable distance to a major airport.

Compensation and Benefits Salary Range:

$84,000 – $105,000 USD
