Crisis Intervention Specialist - York County
Job Code: 13019 | Location: Sanford, ME 04073 | Department: Crisis Intervention Adult | Frequency: Full Time | Summary: This Sanford‑based position will provide assessment, support, and stabilization services in the community, within crisis stabilization units, and over a brief 30‑day post‑crisis stabilization period. Schedule is variable. Sweetser responds to crisis calls 24/7.

Key Responsibilities
Respond to crisis calls for assistance in homes, schools, community sites, and hospital emergency rooms.
Assess, stabilize, and provide follow‑up care for clients in crisis.
Determine the need for face‑to‑face assessment and negotiate safe meeting locations.
Communicate directly with individuals experiencing crisis to assess mental status, level of functioning, and goals.
Develop crisis stabilization plans with clients and families based on comprehensive assessment.
Request protective custody or facilitate voluntary/involuntary hospitalization as permitted by law.
Encourage alternative treatment pathways, including admission to crisis units.
Provide case management and after‑care services as part of crisis follow‑up plan.
Position Requirements
Clean driver’s license.
Persons with lived experience in mental health and/or substance abuse system encouraged to apply.
Mobile crisis experience preferred.
Education Requirements
Associate’s Degree or MHRT/CSP required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
